Puna Weather is specific to the Windward side of the Island of Hawai'i. Our focus area and membership stretches from windward Ka'u to lower Hamakua, including lower Hilo and all of Puna.
The goal of Puna Weather is to be a test case for engaging in bi-directional science, where relevant weather information and concepts are compiled and communicated to members.
Then, in turn, critical data is received back from them in the form of observations. We are constantly evaluating our effectiveness in engaging members. Long term focus is to share goals and techniques found to be effective with Puna weather.
In sharing these skills we hope to encourage and teach other groups to form all over the world with the objective of leveraging the engagement aspect of social media for bi-directional science communication.
